Growing up I was completely obsessed with Harry Potter (and part of me still is). I was exactly the same age as the characters in the books and the actors that ultimately played them in the movies. I loved the fantastical nature of it all. I wished daily for my very own acceptance letter to Hogwarts and to escape to the surreal world of witchcraft and wizardry.
Collin and I don't have any children yet but we do have a very large dog. We aren't really the type of couple that treat their dog like a child but currently she is our only little one roaming around the house. Now, as many of you may have read my past post about our dog, you will have seen that she is quite large.
August was a fantastic month! I've always loved August. Although it is bloody hot in Texas during August I love the fact that fall is right around the corner. Football season starts which is a mainstay in our home. My birthday happens which is always fun and it makes me start thinking about autumn which is my all time favorite season.
Who doesn't love hibachi? It's a dinner experience. I always like to have an arsenal of delicious foods that I can make at home and this is by far one of the best 'copy cat' dinners out there. Amazingly simple it can be whipped up during the week or weekend for a quick, yummy, and fun meal.
I have thought on this a while. Generation Y or Millennials as many call us are getting a reputation of being job hoppers. We are seen as employees that lack loyalty and become easily bored and therefore look to the next adventure to add to our resume. I have seen this too. Heck, I've done this. But I also see why this is happening and perhaps what employers can do to rectify this phenomena.
Collin and I woke on our last day in Wimberley exhausted from the night's festivities. Luckily we got to sleep in to try to regain some of our strength. We were hungry and looking for some grub. We got ready, packed up the car, and took one last look at the magnificent view from the back porch.
The mister and I woke the next day surprisingly refreshed and ready for another day of celebration. We awoke to a stunningly beautiful day. We took our coffee out to the back porch and slowly soaked in the surrounding nature and nibbled on oatmeal. After catching up with Collin's parents and deciding the plan for the day we headed inside to get ready.
Tis the season for weddings and man oh man did we get invited to a great one. This past weekend Collin and I went to a fabulous wedding in Wimberley, TX. Now for those of you that don't know about the hill country you are sorely missing out. It is the best part of Texas, hands down.
I am halfway through my current read which is called 'The Bones of Paris.' Now I'll be honest with you, I am kind of on an anything Parisian kick and when I was perusing my local library in search of a new book I saw the word 'Paris' sticking out of the bookshelf and knew this was the book for me.
Tilapia is a staple fish in our household. Not only is it relatively inexpensive it is quite delicious if you prepare it in the way I am about to share with you. This dish is deliciously tangy with the hit of capers you get with each mouthful. I often make this during the week for a healthy and flavorful end to the day.
Texas weather is upon us! Skirts, shorts, and sunglasses are a must these days. Luckily, and quite surprisingly, we have had a ridiculously mild start to summer - knock on wood. Not that I want that to change or anything but we are getting into the time of summer where being outside, unless you are submerged in water, is just not an option. But before that happens we decided to take advantage of the mild weekend and enjoy as much of the big blue Texas sky as possible.
